Happy anniversary, LabRats!

October 17th, 2006
On this day in 2005, LabRats episode #0 was released on www.labrats.tv!
Thanks to our staff (Matt, Geo, Mike, Maurice and Ted), our wonderful sponsors and everyone for their help in making this happen!
A special thanks to the fans around the world who inspire us to make this amazing project every week.
Happy anniversary Rats! How far we have come! :->
To celebrate - I wanted to unveil the new logo for our parent company - Slurp Media
It was designed by Steve Huntriss, who you may know as “Tackie”.
Please help us to continue to get the word out about the show so we can grow even more in 2007.

LabRats needs 3 volunteers

October 7th, 2006
Sean and I and the LabRats.tv crew are so busy these days that we need some help.We have three volunteer spots available:

1)Blogger—We find it’s hard to keep this blog up to date. So we’re looking for someone with good writing skills to become our LabRats.tv blogger. The volunteer would drop Sean and I an email once a week or so and see what’s up with the LabRats project. It would be helpful if you are in Toronto as you can come to the Labrats shoot as well. But not absolutely necessary. We’ll also ask you from time to time to check in with Matt our director and Maurice our associate producer for other ideas for posts and news.

2) Production Assistant—Also looking for a Toronto-based production assistant who can commit to coming out to the LabRats shoots twice a month and learn camera, sound and producing and help with setup. It’s helpful if you have a car to get to our shoots in Etobicoke, however the MIMICO GO train station is 10 mins walking distance.

3) Marketing director—We need someone to take charge in getting the word out about LabRats. That means getting us nominated for awards, inspiring viewers to help spread the word, coordinate contests, arrange t-shirts and giveaways and come up with interesting and exciting ways to promote the podcast. If you would love this opportunity to use your imagination and marketing savvy and learn more about the inner workings of a video podcast then we’d like to talk to you.
All positions are volunteer, and we need a minimum 6 month commitment from you.
If any of these positions interest you, please drop me a note at andy at labrats dot tv expressing your interest, location, availablity and experience, if applicable.
Thx,
Andy

LabRats sponsors!

May 26th, 2006

I am delighted to tell you that we’ve signed two sponsors for LabRats the video podcast Sean Carruthers and I have been producing since October 2005 that teaches you about your technology.

Starting in late June or early July we’ll be featuring video ads from Viewsonic and TechSmith in the show.

ViewSonic as you may know is a great display company. And TechSmith is a fabulous software company that makes the screen capture program SnagIt and the video capture app Camtasia. (we use Camtasia to capture our video screen grabs on the show).

ViewSonic will also be running a contest to giveaway one of their state of the art monitors on LabRats.tv. And TechSmith will also be sponsoring a Flash-based version of the show on LabRats.tv, which will be created with Camtasia.

The funds the sponsorships bring will help us keep the show free for everyone so we can not only continue the show, but also improve its quality.
