All is right with the world

Thursday, October 27th, 2005

Well after a bit of a slog today, labrats.tv is up and running on a new server with unlimited bandwidth and all file formats are available including WMV.
Plus, we now have a bittorrent seed at www.techtainment.net/bt (so thank you techtainment!) - and thanks to everyone who offered to help. It’s very much appreciated.
Next […]

Not quite normal yet

Thursday, October 27th, 2005

Well that was a helluva ride. At around 5PM EST my ISP shutdown my server after 12.5 GB of files were transferred off the server. Lab Rats is a success! But it shutdown the whole Cyberwalker.com site including forums, the software lbrary and the main site. So we have created a new server at […]

You killed my server (that’s kinda good)

Wednesday, October 26th, 2005

Well looks like my server melted down due to all the Lab Rats downloads so I am relocating files and setting up a new server now.
So I have taken down some of the optional formats. Back up this evening with all the selections!
(Hooray! We’re glad you guys like the show.)

10% off memory

Saturday, October 22nd, 2005

I always buy my memory from Crucial and i noticed they are offering 10% off memory for DIMMs over 512 MB. So if you’re thinking of an upgrade for your system this fall, might want to take advantage of this.
512 MB runs about $65 US these days so the deal knocks it down to […]

New lingo: Splog or Blam?

Thursday, October 20th, 2005

For those of you who watch for new lingo, you know that the web is the best place to see it first.
This AM I read a little bit about blog spam… dubbed “splog”. It’s where spammers send comments or posts to blogs embedded with links to get them posted so they go out to millions […]

Lab Rats ep 1 is in the can

Wednesday, October 19th, 2005

Sean Carruthers (gadget guy on CFH) and I shot episode 1 of Tuesday night with CFH associate producer Matt Harris, who is the guy that produced my field segments on CFH. Matt is extremely clever and a great producer and so episode 1 of Lab Rats will be fab.
Sean is editing so […]

Happy to report that my redundancy worked. When I got back from the radio station I had two nice copies. Tho as my pal Frank Linhares of techphile.ca recommended I should record it at the station. Will try that next week. Need to get cables.
Anyway, here’s episode 3.

Steve Jobs announced the iPod Video today. The music player, which comes in black or white with a 2.5-inch color screen, will be available in a 30GB model for US$299 and a 60GB version for US$399. The new devices hold up to 15,000 songs, 25,000 photos or more than 150 hours of video. So I […]

Lab Rats and Next Big Ping update

Tuesday, October 11th, 2005

Sean and I have been working feverishly on “Episode zero” of Lab Rats and we have produced something workable. He’s cutting a releasable version of the episode which is more of an equipment test with a light and sound check than anything else. However there are some antics that include a little rat action and […]

Hijack This online analyser

Tuesday, October 11th, 2005

Hey folks….Mark C. just emailed me a note to tell me about an online Hijack This! log analyser. As you may know Hijack This available for free at www.merijn.org helps analyse your system for browser hijackers. However the log it creates requires analysis by an expert so you know which settings to remove in your […]

Failed recording

Monday, October 10th, 2005

Uh oh…wmrecorder failed to record this week’s episode of Cyberwalker Mondays. Sorry folks I’ll have to set up a redundancy so this won’t happen again.

No news, traffic or commercials

Sunday, October 9th, 2005

Thanks to some great feedback I have been swayed into editing episode 001 of Cyberwalker Mondays to remove the news and commericals.
We’ll see how it goes. Makes sense to dump the news and traffic as that has no relevance. I may have to put the commericals back in. For now they are dropped.
Watch for […]
